Faithful Reflections: Communication with Love
Story
There have been times when I spoke the truth, but without love—and it hurt more than it helped. Other times, I listened only to respond, not to truly understand. One day, after a difficult conversation that left both sides wounded, I prayed for help. God gently reminded me that love isn’t just in what we say, but how we say it—and how we listen.
Ephesians 4:15 encourages us:
"Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Him who is the head, that is, Christ."
Love should shape both our words and our willingness to listen.
Insight
Healthy communication is more than just being honest—it’s being compassionate. Speaking truth is powerful, but without grace, it can create distance. And listening with empathy is one of the most loving things we can do.
James 1:19 reminds us:
"Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry."
When we invite God into our conversations, He helps us choose words that heal, not harm—and ears that hear, not just react.
Prayer
Lord, help me to communicate with a heart of love. Teach me to speak truth gently, and to listen with understanding. Guard my words and soften my responses so that every conversation reflects Your grace and kindness. Let love be the language I speak. Amen.
Daily Verse
"Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone."
—Colossians 4:6
